The use of technology within my area or subjects

Hello to all, I am going to talk today about the use of technology within my area or subjects. Well in my career is important the use of the technology because it give a help to make the thing easier in our professional work and do our jobs better. And help to give a better attention to the pregnant, the newborn and to all the women.
Well the technologies that we use in our career are:

•Ultrasound: the ultrasound have an important role in the attention of the pregnant, because we use to diagnostic the pregnancy and to see the numbers of foetuses, to evaluate the foetus (congenital malformations, height and weight), to evaluate the quantity of amniotic liquid, to evaluate the site of insertion of the placenta and the state of this.
•Foetal heart monitor- Tocodynamometer: we use this two technological equips to evaluate the foetus in the labour and compare the foetal heartbeat and the contractions of the pregnant and this help us to evaluate the capacity of the foetus to resist the labour and the vitality of them.
•Radiant cot: is very used in the services of Neonatology because this give help in the attention to the newborns that have problems in their thermoregulation
•Incubators: is used in the services of Neonatology in newborns of preterm and in newborns. It consists in a closed chamber with a sterilized mattress and calefaction. The incubator allows you to limit infant exposure to germs, and the complexity of the equipment also allows various care treatments, including intravenous therapy, supplemental oxygen, mechanical support of respiration and drug administration

Well for these reasons the technology are very important in our area because these give help in the attention of all the procedures in our area, to give a better attention to our patients and give an attention of quality to all of our patients and improve the quality of life of our community and of the all medical equipment.
In my opinion the technology is fundamental in an attention of quality for the diagnostic and treatment of illnes.

Dr. House

Hello to all, I am going to talk today about Dr. House, it is an American television medical drama, starring for Hugh Laurie how Dr. Gregory House. The program was conceived by David Shore and Paul Attanasio; Shore is credited as creator.
Dr. House is an unconventional and misanthropic medical genius who heads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey.
Dr. House often clashes with his boss (and later, girlfriend), hospital administrator and Dean of Medicine Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), and his diagnostic team, because many of his hypotheses about patients' illnesses are based on subtle or controversial insights. House's only true friend is Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), head of the Department of Oncology.
House's original team of diagnosticians consists of Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), a neurologist; Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), an intensivist; and Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), an immunologist. In the fourth season House tricks Cuddy into allowing him to hire three new assistants. He ultimately selects Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson), a former plastic surgeon; Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn), a sports medicine specialist; and Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley (Olivia Wilde), an internist (nicknamed for her number in the elimination contest). In the season finale, Thirteen discovers she has, as she had long dreaded, Huntington's disease, which is incurable.
The series count whit seven seasons, in the last season the history is focused on Dr. House relationship with Dr. Lisa Cuddy.
This series is my favorite because the cases that they show are very incredible and the form of diagnostic the illness of the Dr. House is very brilliant.

Myths and Truth about the Human Brain

Hello to all, I am going to talk today about the presentation of the Dr. Maldonado of the last week about “Myths and Truth about the Human Brain”. For us, as health professionals, is very important know about the Human Brain.
The first myth that Dr. Maldonado presented is: “The human brain is different from the brain of the others animals”, the doctor said that is false because the animals brains and the human brain are very similar, the only difference is the size of the cortex, the human brain has a longest cortex than animal brain and the human brain has more neurons.
The other myth: “Every brain functions are localized in a specific place of the brain”, this is false because we use different part of the brain to do the same action.
The next myth: “The brain is like computer”, it is very false because the human brain has a distributed memory and the computer has a localized memory, and the human brain can do a lot of functions at the same time while the computer can do only one action.
Other myth: “We use only 10% of our brain”, it is absolutely false because our brain have plasticity for this the brain can adapt to different function also for the same action different part of the brain can activate to do this action.
The knowledge of the structure and function of the human brain is very important in our career because we need know this to educate the pregnant about the early stimulation that is important to the development of the fetus brain.

Stem cell clinical trial aims to combat nerve damage in human tissue

“Pioneering treatment given go-ahead in US as researchers inject cells directly into patient's damaged spinal cord”
Hello to all, I am going to talk today about a very important news. It is the development of a new therapy for the treatment of the lesions of the spinal cord; this treatment was proved in a patient of USA more specifically in the Sheperd Center, a specialist spine and brain injury in Atlanta.
The treatment was performed on Friday 8, in the patient, who has not been named, for Geron, a biotech company based in California.
In the first phase of the development of this treatment, doctors will establish only whether the treatment is safe to use. Geron will need to further trials in coming years to assess whether the treatment is effective in repairing spinal cord injuries.
The trial of the treatment was performed in patients who have received a spinal injury within the past 14 days. These patients will be injected with living cells that are precursors of a kind found in the nervous system. The cells are expected to infiltrate the site of the injury and release chemicals that help repair damaged spinal cord nerves.
Throughout the trial, doctors will monitor patients to see whether they are regaining sensation or better able to move parts of the body affected by their injury.
Tests in animals show that injections of the cells can improve their ability to walk and move after sustaining an injury.
Doctors hope that injecting stem cells directly into the spine will help repair damaged nerve cells enough for paralyzed people to regain some movement.
To my mind the develop of this treatment will help a lot of people in the world and will give a new hope to the people that can’t walk.

Dealing With Stress

Hello to all, today I going to talk about deal with stress. First of all, what is the stress? The stress is a sensation that we create to react to events. Is the way in which the body is facing a challenge and is prepared to act in a difficult situation with focus, strength and mental acuity.
The causes of stress are: being a victim of bullying or being exposed to violence or physical injury, strained relations, family conflicts, the sadness caused by a broken heart, or the death of a loved one, continuous problems in the school caused for a learning problem or another problem, be always in a hurry, don’t have time to rest and relax, and keep moving.
The symptoms of stress are: Anxiety or panic attacks, constant pressure, confusion, hastiness, irritability and melancholy, stomach problems, headache, chest pain, allergic reactions (eczema and asthma), sleep problems, drink in excess alcoholic drinks, eat in excess, smoke or use drugs, sadness and depression. All the people feel the stress of different forms. Some people get angry, behaving inappropriately and retaliate whit others. Other peoples hides it and begins to suffer from eating problems and illegal substance abuse. The people with a chronic illness also note that the symptoms of the disease are increased when they have an overload of stress.
The better methods to deal with stress are: not overloaded with activities, be realist (don’t try to be perfect), sleep well, learn to relax, do exercise, resolve the simple problems (learn to solve quotidian problems makes you feel in control).

Postovulatory effects of Levonorgestrel in emergency contraception

Hello to all, today I going to talk about the speech of the Dr. Valenzuela over the Postovulatory effects of Levonorgestrel in emergency contraception.
The presentation was very interesting for me because the Dr. Valenzuela talk about topics nearly to our career.
The Levonorgestrel is a type of Progesterone, used in the monophasic and triphasic formulation of combined oral contraceptives pills in low doses. The other use and the most important, is in the Emergency contraceptives pills (ECPs) both in a combined Yuzpe regimen which includes estrogen, and as a Levonorgestrel only method. And the final use and less important is in the intrauterine contraceptive device with progestogen.
Levonorgestrel in form of ECPs is used 24 to 120 hours after unprotected sex, with a maximum effectiveness in the first three days.
I am agree with the use of Levonorgestrel as Emergency contraceptive pills but in only one instance and it is when a woman is violated and she didn’t want to get pregnant, because first would be an unwanted pregnancy and second she didn’t the possibility of use an contraceptive method. For this to my mind the pill shouldn’t be give to the women that haven’t was violated because they have the option of use an contraceptive method or demand to their couple that they use a preservative.
Dr. Valenzuela doesn’t consider that the Levonorgestrel is abortive, and I agree with him, because the life begin when the Nervous System begin to develop, and the Levonorgestrel exerts its effect before than it does occur.

Iron Maiden, My Favorite Rock Band

Hello to all, today I going to talk about my favorite rock band, this is Iron Maiden, it is an British band of heavy metal.
Iron Maiden was founded for Steve Harris, the only original member, in the 1975. The name of the band is based on an object of torture that Steve saw in the movie “The Man in the Iron Mask”.
Iron Maiden is composed for Bruce Dickinson, that is the vocalist; Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers, that are the guitarists; Steve Harris, that is the bassist; Nicko McBrain, that is the drummer; and Eddie the Head, that is the icon of the band.
The Discography of the band is: Iron Maiden (1980), Killers (1981), The Number of the Beast (1982), Piece of Mind (1983), Powerslave (1984), Somewhere in Time (1986), Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988), No Prayer for the Dying (1990), Fear of the Dark (1992), The X Factor (1995), Virtual XI (1998), Brave New World (2000), Dance of the Death (2003), A Matter of Life and Death (2006) and The Final Frontier (2010).
My favorite’s songs are: The Number of The Beast, The Wicker Man, Powerslave, Journeyman, Rainmaker, Blood Brothers, Montsegur, and Satellite 15…The Final Frontier.
The songs that I dislike are the songs of the discs The X Factor and Virtual XI, because in this discs Bruce Dickinson didn´t stay in the band and was replaced for Blaze Bayley that have a voice most soft that Bruce.
Actually the band is in a tour for their ultimate disc The Final Frontier and I wish that they will come to Chile, because in the previous concerts I didn´t can go.
